Bomberman Live (XBLA) Review

Bomberman Live is available through the Xbox Live Arcade for the low price of 2000 Microsoft Points...... just kidding its only 800 points. The goal of the game is to place bombs down and eventually blow up all of the other competitors.  When i first got this game I expected the old Bomberman we all know and love with some unsuspecting changes that would make it weird and less fun.  However, this game is the Bomberman i knew and loved with nice crisp graphics, and some great additions.  Some of these lovely additions are customizing your bomberman using the costumes you pick up during gameplay, and the xbox live multiplayer mode which allows you to bring guests online if you please. There are also ongoing tournaments, leaderboards, and several game types including zombie which you have unlimited lives and your goal is to paint more squares your color by blowing your bombs up over them, and 3 different levels of powerups with a few downgrades to spice things up.  Some of the powerups are speed up which makes you run faster, bomb up which allows you to place more bombs at one time and there is a power up which allows you to pick up bombs that are placed and throw them.  One of the things I was sort of disappointed by at first was the lack in levels and I was also hoping for a level creator.  While there aren't too many levels the levels that are provided are all different with their own attributes that make them different such as one map has teleports on it which teleport you to another random teleporter when you walk on them while one has holes you can fall into if your not careful.  Overall between the somewhat challenging AI, the wide variety of power ups, making your custom bomberman and xbox live play this game is one of my favorite games on the xbox live arcade.

The Good:Fun and challenging yet simple game play.
The Bad:lack of levels?? and more customability for your bomberman would be nice
